Love will be the downfall of us all. Although love provides the engine upon which every human revolves it causes nothing but hurt. Behind every one of mans actions is this one simple four letter word ‘Love’. Whether it be mans love for money, love for a female or simply a love for others. One way or another love destroys. Love will tear us apart. It’s an inevitable sin. Each and every one of us ‘loves’ someone or something, for the wrong or right reasons. But what is love? How can you love something you hate? How is it possible to love more than one thing, when you’re only graced with one heart? Is the figure of a heart merely a marketing ploy? I tool used by the media in order to monopolize a human emotion? After all that’s all love is, an emotion.
When we love something, do we give it our heart? Or is that something we have just been made to believe? Are we merely confronted with so many overwhelming emotions, so much trust in someone or something that we cannot find a more appropriate word than love to describe it? Who discovered love? Who named it? Do other mammals experience love? How long have we felt it for? Did stone-age people grunt and tap their chest, pointing to their partner? Are emotions all what they are cracked up to be, after all, our ability to discover and create intelligence and feel emotions is, according to scientists the one thing that separates us from the monkeys who sit picking their arses in the top of the trees all day.
Business men get where they are through their love for money, artistes get where they are through their love for expression and bands get to where they are through their love for music, their passion. Just as a mans passion will die for music and ultimately the odds are against most business men. All love fades. Men in suites retire on their pension, loose the love. Musicians retire to their lives in the country with nothing but record sales to remind them of their love for music. Artists lay down their brushes and revel in their fortunes, love goes bitter.
In a nutshell, love is good whilst it lasts.
